in Search of Sunshine Day 12 - Orlando

Should have known. Tired, irritable kids, hot climate. Even taking them to the expensive skateboard shop for new shoes didn't stop the squabbling or the arguments that followed.

On the way back we did pass President Obama's cavalcade on its way to Orlando though. Not something you see every day. We first saw a couple of police cars closing slip roads, then a cop car every so many yards along the verge of the opposite carriageway, all watching us, some with binoculars. Then came a few odd police bikes, followed by like fifty or so more all in a group formation, a minute or so later the big black presidential limosine with US flags on drove past, followed by goodness knows how many white vans, cars, ambulances and fire trucks.

I did think that it was just like what we saw on episodes of 24, when Jack Bauer had to stop some terrorist attack on Mr President!

Quite a spectacle! Was almost as good as watching the Olympic Torch run past me in Blyth a few weeks ago.

Anyway, the 'now' finds me sat outside a Starbucks about a mile or so from the hotel, blogging. Unless the day improves, this will be all for today.

Pirates Golf
Edited - Well things did improve and I was summoned back to a normal family ready to go out for something to eat. Some bribery involving Pirates Golf was involved I suspect, so after another meal at Bahama Breeze, we wandered round a busy hot and humid crazy golf course. I have to admit that I was the only one to get not one but two holes in one, and a couple of well over par holes to balance it out. Flukey apparently!

And so to bed. Hopefully this was just 'one of those days' and tomorrow everyone wakes bright and chirpy with better attitudes. Wishful thinking.
