Until the end of July I was a busy mum working full time and doing the usual taxi driving duties most evenings. Understandably I was often overheard saying " Where did the time go?"
and then a strange thing happened.
As of 1st August, I was unemployed and suddenly had all the time in the world. I could clean the house properly, walk the dogs for miles, have nice bike rides, go to the gym, make cards and scrapbooks again and blog and tweet for as long as I liked.
Woohoo!!!
So what happened?
I get up only 15 minutes later than I used to, take Little Dude to school, tidy up, do some laundry, check the agency websites and send off a few CV's if required, pick up Little Dude and then its tea time! (Er and incase you think I'm neglecting them, I can't walk the dogs at the moment because of my broken toe!)
I used to do all of this and more except the school run before or after work!! So what has happened to all the free time? Do I slip into the Twilight Zone between 9.30 and 2.30? Ok so the house is a little tidier, but I still dont have a job, do crafts or any of the other things intended.
I'm now thinking that my life is more enjoyable when I was juggling a million things at once.
Its just Murphy's law (or one of his many laws)that the job will take as long as the time allocated to it. Hence the housework and all the things you used to do now take all day!Its a mystery to me too where the time goes. I am sure Harry Potter and his crew would have an answer.
ReplyDeleteI haven't worked since March- signed off sick indefinitely. I don't honestly think I could fit work in now. LOL. Enjoy it while it lasts- it won't last forever. Someone will snap you up XX
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to start thinking about yourself when you have been accustomed to doing things for everyone else. Go to a gallery for an hour and a nice lunch. You'll get used to it.
ReplyDeleteLOL - I have never been less busy with work - yet have so little time. It is quite quite ludicrous. Sorry to hear about your toe (ouch ouch - have done the same sort of thing so know how painful it can be). And thanks for your comments on mine.Whereabouts in Northumberland are you? LOVE that county. If you're close to Embleton (or even if not!) check out http://eleanorsbyre.blogspot.com (a mate of mine) xx
ReplyDeleteHi - I live in Northumnerland too and saw one of your comments on another blog (Exmoorjane) so thought I'd pop over. I also love Florida, Jo Malone fragrance, notebooks, Johnny Depp, and my iphone which I will have to be buried with! I've given up working in the official 9-5 sense, and work at writing from home (in between blogging, walking the dog, doing the millions of other things we just do!!). I just don't know how I did so much before - well I don't think I did do them properly, that's the truth. I'll pop back over to follow you :)
ReplyDeleteMerinz, when do you get the time to make beautiful quilts like you have done? Do I need to buy a beach house?Jo, you deserve the time to rest, and as for snapping me up, I'm waiting for the moment where like buses, the job offers all turn up at once!Legend, I should do that, my moments tend to be in a nice coffee shop watching the passers by these days. Although I love people watching, it gets a bit expensive!Jane, I have one of your books,! Gosh I blog with a famous person. I live over by the coast, between whitley Bay and Amble, it's not the nicest of towns but at least we are surrounded by beautiful countryside and beaches.Diney, are you my twin? We really ought to get together and compare notes on all our favourite things. Have you smelt the new Jo Malone English pears scent? Mmmmmmmm. We need a shop up here - or maybe we don't. Off to check out your blog right now! Thanks for following me. This is my new blog after a bit of a break so I need some encouragement to get my juices flowing again.
