In Search of Sunshine Day 1

Last year we went camping for our holiday instead of our usual trip to The Sunshine State. Camping is not, and never will be a holiday. We know that now. The only positive thing about last year is that it was sunny and dry, rather than grey, wet and miserable as it has been so far this summer.

So, wiser and a little healthier financially since getting myself a proper job, we booked up a three weeker to Florida. Today we packed up the car, rustled up the boys and set off across the Pennines to Manchester, and the first of five hotels.

Thats where I am now. Surrounded by 'apple' gadgets plugged into any available socket frantically recharging ready for the long two leg flight to Miami tomorrow. Travelodges are basic, only the teeniest scrap of soap, and two wafer thin excuses for pillows. Not exactly The Hard Rock Hotel, but then you wouldn't get two rooms there for £20.

Strangely, as we drove down and across the country to get here, the weather was probably as good as it has been all year. Typical!

Anyway, here we are. Car will be left with relatives in the morning, and we will arrive at Departures with time for a leisurely breakfast and wander round Duty Free. I will try to relax and chill, but until I am unpacking in Miami, there will always be the chance of a moment where I could happily throttle someone.

Time for lights out, see you tomorrow when the adventure begins.
